Purgatori #6 Out Today |
Lead | |
|
Purgatori #6 should be in stores today. It is the last issue of the first story arc. Pencils for issue #7 are complete and is targeted to be released this fall. For those that missed the first 6 issues, a trade paperback will be released at the same time as #7.

But not published by DD, according to their message-board.
Are you at liberty to tell us what's going on, Joe? Sworn, bloody! Xetal |

Sure. Chaos will no longer be published by Devil's Due, but by Chaos itself. There's nothing sinister here, just a difference in opinion and management styles. DDP was a big help in getting the comics off the ground again.
We'll have a message board at the Chaos website soon, but the plan is to be ahead of schedule and hopefully eliminate delays (hence no solicitations). Purgatori #7 has been penciled. Covers are done through issue #8 and I just received the completed script to issue #13. Chastity #1 has been penciled and the cover #1 is done as well. Dan Jolley has completed the scripts for the complete five issue mini series. As of right now, no work has been completed on a follow-up Evil Ernie series, but we'll move forward with that soon. Once we get the message board going, I'll give more regular updates, previews and artwork. Joe |

Got it today. I haven't read it yet (domestic issues plus World Cup soccer) but it's good to see a Chaos! comic on the shelves again!

Well, the arc has finished but it's all been rather pedestrian so far. The historical accuracy hasn't made up for the length of the re-tell, IMHO.
There again, as an existing Chaos! fan, my attitude can't be a surprise. The early conflicts of conscience which weren't dealt with by Chaos! as it filled in her past in a series of flashbacks are here dealt with, so there's some sense of an expanded tale, even if old hands know in advance what Purgatori became in the end. I hope enough new fans are beguiled by the re-telling to make it worthwhile. Since for reasons of ownership/copyright her conflict with Lady Death can't be re-told, it'll be interesting to see where this laboured origin re-tale leads. At least I'm still minded to keep buying to find out, but if I were short of comics-money I'm not sure I'd be enthused enough to do so. I still have a sense of doubt that the story knows where it's going in the long run. It now needs to move forward rather quicker - or come up with an interesting motive to go slow. Sworn, bloody!
